The large rare
earth magnets are very powerful permanent magnets. They are made of the
material like neodymium or dysprosium. It can be very effectively used in power
massive wind turbines, which is capable of generating not less than 2 million
watts of electricity. The power of the generator depend directly the force of
the magnet. So the stronger the magnet, greater potent the generator will be. The
rare earth magnets are really strong having a huge power of magnetic field. So
it is really difficult to control the power and use it the intended function to
get best utilization out of it. The recent trend is to make smaller rare earth
magnets with less powerful magnetic field which is made of nano-particles. The rare
earth magnets are also useful in military to build up weapon systems.
The rare earth magnet is good at observing
temperature. That is the reason, why the Neodymium Magnet is not getting potential demagnetization easily. The rare
earth magnets made of Samarium cobalt is stronger than neodymium iron boron
magnets. All the rare earth magnets can resist with a temperature of 20 degrees
Celsius. However the neodymium magnets cannot withstand in an increased
temperature. It can cause ill effect to neodymium magnets through demagnetize
it temporarily. The other feature to be considered is that, thicker magnets greater
will be magnetic field.
If you put Neodymium Magnet against
corrosion, you will find that the huge rare earth magnets may break due to the
large surface area. Even though the damage caused will not influence the
magnetic properties present in it. So, surface coatings are often proved
helpful in preserving the structural integrity of the magnets. Samarium cobalt
magnets are subject to extremely corrosion-resistant.
There are some drawbacks associated with
machining rare earth magnets. Always prefer use diamond tooling for the strong Neodymium Block Magnet
or abrasive grinding depending upon the alloy. The less brittle magnets like Neodymium
iron boron magnets are easy to machine than a samarium cobalt magnet.
All the rare earth magnets do not
behave in the same manner. Different Neodymium Magnet of diverse alloys will be
used for different application. For example a rare earth magnets with the
potent of high intrinsic coercive force, is useful for electromechanical
operations.
It is advisable to consider the
magnetic field of the rare earth magnet before putting it into action for your
design. Rare earth magnets have a powerful magnetic field and a single
direction of magnetization. It can magnetize other object through simple
strokes with the original magnet in one direction.
